There is a planned Spring Trip to San Antonio Texas - April 11th-14th, 2013

  
 

 

 

Dear Band Students and Family,


The Union Pines High School Bands have been selected to represent the State of North Carolina in the 2013 National Festival of the States in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS! Participating groups are chosen on the basis of recommendation from state and national music educators, governors' and senators' offices and by audition. We intend to leave Thursday, April 11th, and return on Sunday, April 14th, 2013. We will leave Union Pines on a charter bus in route to the Charlotte International Airport where we will continue our journey to San Antonio via air travel. Some of the highlights of the trip include a performance as part of the National Festival of the States, and a sightseeing tour will include The Alamo, Market Square- El Mercado, The Riverwalk, the Tower of the Americas, the Spanish Governors Palace, and San Fernando Cathedral- where the remains of Davy Crocket, Col. James Bowie, and Col. William Travis rest, Mission Trails National Historical Park -Concepcion, Espada, San Jose and San Juan Missions, and a day at Don Strange Ranch, for a cowboy barbeque dinner where we will experience hayrides, armadillo races, horseshoes, rodeo, and horseback riding.

If you wish to be considered to be a chaperone, must must have a complete Moore County School Volunteer Profile form and a Moore County Sheriff's Back Ground Check ON FILE with the Union Pines High School Office prior to the trip.
