Union Pines Marching Vikings

The Union Pines Marching Vikings compete in the largest divisions, classes 4 and 5A, and they compete in larger divisions even though their school size is classified as a 3A school because of the large size of the band, an impressive statistic that isn’t typical for high school bands.

Recent awards for the 2014-15 year include straight superior ratings at all competitions, 1st place band and top overall score at the 2014 Pinecrest Band fest, Grand Champion at the 2014 South view Rumble in the Jungle, 1st place and Grand Champion for class 3A and 4A at the 2014 Brick Capital Classic in Sanford, Grand Champion at the 2013 Lee County Brick Capital Classic. They had a 1st place in class 4A at the 2013 Forest view Jaguar Classic with top overall scores in percussion and marching.  They also took 1st place finishes in music; general effect, marching, and color guard where there were as many as 25 bands in competition.  In competition, the judged caption categories are Music, Marching, Color Guard, Drum Major, Percussion, and General Effect (the combination of the overall visual aspect of music, marching, and color guard combined).

The Marching Vikings also recently represented the state of North Carolina at the National Festival of States performance in San Antonio, Texas, a very prestigious honor.  The Union Pines concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensembles have performed at the Palustris Arts Festival in Southern Pines, and at the Heritage Music Festival in Atlanta for placement and ratings against many other bands from across the country. They will participate in March in the state music performance assessment.

Very proud of the group!
The three pieces they performed are March Grandioso, Incantation and Dance, and Ride!
They were all solid performances.
Enjoy.  It’s All Good!
